Dear Friends
Good morning
I know we must think about climate change but - it’s the Monday of the Old Trafford Test Match and therefore bound to rain!
Thinking of which, there’s are very challenging paragraph in Laudato Si which helps to focus our attention.
Pope Francis says:
We are free to apply our intelligence towards things evolving positively, or towards adding new ills, new causes of suffering and real setbacks. This is what makes for the excitement and drama of human history, in which freedom, growth, salvation and love can blossom, or lead towards decadence and mutual destruction. The work of the Church seeks not only to remind everyone of the duty to care for nature, but at the same time ‘she must above all protect mankind from self-destruction.’ (Para. 79)
Let’s think about how we, as a parish and individuals, might be more pro-active in our concern for nature and therefore the future of all humankind. It would be good to think that our little changes might make a big difference. Suggestions please.
Let us pray for those who are sick:
Adela, Winnie, Sylvia, Joe, Susan, Irene, Paddy, Jimmy, Maureen, Michael, Steve, P.J., and Declan
And for those who have died:
Fr Peter Sheahan, Fr Bernard McGarry, Paula, Michael, Susan, Denis, Tony, Antoinette, Sheila, Michael, Marion, Audrey, Bridget, William, Maree, Joe, Gary, Ian and Gerard
Please pray for Joe Clarke whose funeral we celebrate today
St Joseph, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
