Dear Friends

Another lovely day in lockdown - ah well

These are challenging times for all of us, without doubt. We are generally not accustomed to spending so much time on our own or with a limited group of family members. We miss our ordinary social interactions and especially those in church.

I was recently struck by an answer that Pope Francis gave to a question about the implications of lockdown for the Church. He said, ‘ .... home Church. We have to respond to our confinement with all our creativity. We can either get depressed and alienated - through media that can take us out of our reality - or we can get creative. At home we need an apostolic creativity, a creativity shorn of so many useless things, but with a yearning to express our faith in community, as the people of God. So: to be in lockdown, but yearning with that memory that yearns and begets hope - this is what will help us escape our confinement.’

So - we continue to pray for for all those on the front line who are caring for the sick and dying and all those who are ensuring that we can have the basic necessities.
We pray for all those who are sick: Evelyn, Winnie C., Mary, Patrick, Michael and Adela; may they be given all the strength and courage they need.
We pray for all those who have died: Roy, Alf, Malcolm, Elsie, Stella, Chris, Kenneth, Carol Ann, Ingeburg, Winnie Y., Patricia M. and Eileen. May the Lord grant them eternal rest and comfort those who mourn them.

Stay well and stay safe

Dear St Joseph, pray for us

Every blessing

Fr John
