Dear Friends
Good morning
Just thinking about the journey inward - ‘soul searching’ - here’s a very thoughtful, even provocative, piece from Roger McGough
Survivor
Everyday
I think about dying.
About disease, starvation,
violence, terrorism, war,
the end of the world.
It helps keep my mind off things.
On a lighter note - from Spike Milligan
Return to Sorrento (3rd Class)
I must go down to the sea again,
To the lonely sea and sky,
I left my vest and socks there,
I wonder if they’re dry?
Or how about another of his:
The Herring is a lucky fish,
From all disease inured.
Should he be ill when caught at sea;
Immediately - he’s cured!
Or a lesson in good manners from Louis Phillips:
Robert de Niro
Is a screen hero.
Only a slob
Would call him Bob.
On a different more serious note - it’s reassuring to hear that so many more people are receiving the first dose of the vaccine. But I think it’s simply an added reason for us all to stay safe. As they are saying, ’No one is safe until everyone is safe’.
And hopefully the poorer countries of the world will not get left behind in the distribution of the vaccine supplies.
Extra prayers please for Anne, Carol and John - and for the people of Myanmar
St Joseph, patron of our families, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
