Dear Friends

Good morning

Well done Marcus Rashford - what a man! So clear and well-mannered - his family, friends and teachers must be very proud of him.

There are so many people doing great things for others these days, some necessarily high profile, others quietly in the background - simple acts of generosity and kindness that no-one knows about except ‘Your Father who sees all the is done in secret; and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.’ (Gospel from Ash Wednesday)

In the diocese we have so many different agencies who work quietly and in the background generally but who must sometimes intervene for safety’s sake; we can be rightly proud of their work. So much of their work comes under the umbrella of Caritas. This parish has always been very generous in its support of Caritas and our schools especially in their own particular way with the ‘Big Sleep Out’.

It didn’t work this year for obvious reasons and so they have launched an alternative:
Caritas has launched the Big Sleep In event to be held on the evening of FRIDAY 10th JULY to raise funds and awareness for homeless projects at Cornerstone. This is an alternative to the Big Sleep Out normally held in April and in which our schools normally take part. For more information please check out this link: http://cornerstonecds.org.uk/big-sleep-in/

‘And the King will answer, “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of men, you did it to me”.’ (Gospel for the Feast of Christ the King)

We continue to pray for those who are sick especially
Adela, Winnie, Sylvia, Joe, Susan, Irene, Audrey, Janet, Paddy and Maureen
And for those who have died especially

Fr Peter, Michael, Roy, Alf, Malcolm, Elsie, Matthew, Anne, Stella, Chris, Kenneth, Carol Ann, Ingeburg, Winnie, Patricia, Eileen, Maureen, Joan, Frank, Robert, Lynda, Cecilia, Lourdes, Dale, John, Eileen, Michael, Graham, Maria, Andrew, Gladys, Ellen, Patrick, Pauline, Michael, Alice, Gordon, Mary William, Lynn, Elsie, Tom, Richard, Paula and Dennis

St Joseph, guardian of the poor, pray for us

Every blessing

Fr John
