Dear Friends
Good morning - thank you for our celebration yesterday which was so joyful and dignified.
The weather has turned a little cooler - an added incentive to stay home. Please stay safe for everyone’s sake. Our doctors, nurses, carers and emergency staff are doing an amazing job; we can’t make it any more difficult for them.
Today’s Gospel (Matthew 28: 8 - 15) has remarkable resonances for today’s society - it asks the question, ‘who’s in charge of the news?’, ‘what are we to believe?’.
If you get chance to read it, please do. However, in terms of the Good News, we are in charge; we are responsible for telling others about the resurrection of Jesus - if we don’t, who will.
Again, the wonders of technology! Go to BBC catch up yesterday and watch Pope Francis’ Urbi et Orbi message - it is so heartfelt and challenging. That is the news we need to be hearing during these difficult times.
Let us continue to pray for Patricia, Evelyn, Winnie, Mary, Steve, Patrick and Michael who are sick, and for all those who are caring for them.
We remember Roy, Alf, Malcolm, Frank, Mary, Matthew, Anne, Stella, Edward, Chris, Marcia and Emily and for all those who mourn them.
Let us keep each other in prayer
Dear St Joseph, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
PS Chorley cakes just about nudged it yesterday despite suggestions of wine, Pringles and chocolate.
